67% of the 500+ respondents of the recent Easynet and Ipanema Technologies "Killer Apps 2012" survey (CIO, IT and Network managers) said they know how many applications are running across their corporate networks.
Nearly the same number of respondents (69%) said they don't know how much bandwidth each of these applications consumes.
The best interpretation we found of this apparent contradictory situation is that IT people know which applications are in use in their company… while they have no clue how they fly from the datacenter (or the cloud) to the branches where people make use of them.
In a way, enterprises know that they don't know… which is a good start. Application visibility, the first step of IT and WAN governance, remains a strategic need for IT managers who want to drive their IT with a clean and transparent wind shield…
